We're nearly at the halfway stage of this year's IPL and clear patterns have emerged about every team's preferred style of play taking into account their own strengths and weaknesses. The Sunrisers Hyderabad have only enhanced their reputation as the only franchise that rides on its bowling unit to win them games. Their bowling form this season was kickstarted in their opening game of the season, against Rajasthan Royals, when they restricted the visitors to just 125, and has continued on till their recent, successful defences of 132 and 118.

Rajasthan Royals have had a season that is aptly reflected on the points table where they stand fifth with three wins and as many losses. A side that is filled with obviously, potential matchwinners, they have had issues that started with a muddled batting order to the indifferent form of their key players. The burden of the big purses seems to have had an effect on the likes of Ben Stokes and Jaydev Unadkat. The former has been visibly pushing himself to contribute much more than he has so far (160 runs and 1 wicket) but the results haven't been forthcoming. But while the superstars have struggled, the ones vying to make a name have come good for the Royals. K Gowtham and Shreyas Gopal have been highly effective with the ball and the former also played the biggest hand in a stirring chase against the Mumbai Indians. That was a match that saw Jofra Archer too fill in his boots, after being sidelined by injury.

A victory that should have created some much-needed momentum for the Royals was followed by a week-long break. How much of an impact the break has had on the team will be a key factor in the game, particularly as they take on the Sunrisers who are at the other end of the momentum spectrum with two confidence-boosting wins on the bounce.
